I’d rather attempt to do something great and fail than to attempt to do nothing and succeed.
Greatness cannot be achieved by standing still in life. The effort you put in is a reflection of how much you care and that effort is not lost or wasted if you fail. Even in failure you gain new experiences and can learn something from what happened.
It is undoubtedly better to reach for the stars and make a great effort to reach your goals than to never try at all. At least if you fail, you won’t live with regret later wondering, “What if…”
“Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.”
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
You can know everything there is to know in this world and you can wish to know everything there is to know outside of it, but unless you put that knowledge to use or attempt to learn more, knowing and the desire to know more are both useless.
It is only through application of skills and knowledge that your experiences become useful to you. Learning how to apply your knowledge and take advantage of what you wish for to move along your own path will get you far.
“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”
This is a quote to live by. Every person in this world is different. We may all be human, but we experience things differently and at a different pace. Take on life at the pace you see fit. Don’t think you must conform to the pace of others when you know yourself and your needs best. You can get to where you want to go, and have wonderful experiences along the way. You just have to keep trying and moving forward.
“You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.”
Everything in the world requires effort to accomplish and just doesn’t happen out of nowhere. You have to make a conscious choice to do something and put that effort in to reach your goals or stand still looking at your goals from afar, never willing to take the first step.
Reach out for your goals. It may seem hard or impossible, but effort goes a long way toward getting you there.
“What you do today can improve all your tomorrows.”
Everyone needs to remember that today leads into tomorrow, which leads into the next day, and the one after that as well. When you think about putting something off or say,”I’ll just do it tomorrow,” you lose out on time. When one thing leads to the next, make sure you don’t delay! Take care of what needs to be done today so you can better tackle tomorrow when it comes.
“I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”
The lesson to learn here is that sometimes you need to learn to work with what is presented to you instead of forcing yourself in a different direction. Much how the advice for dealing with a riptide on the beach is to swim sideways and out of it before proceeding back to shore, the same can be said in life and business matters. Sometimes it is easier to accomplish a goal by taking a different approach to get there.
